Obama: looking for a selectively empathetic judge

Empathy. What a beautiful word and admirable quality. It's the one quality Obama says he's looking for in a Supreme Court justice. To hear Obama say "empathy" surely makes millions of his koolaid drinkers even more certain he is the One who is to come, our savior, messiah, redeemer and friend. Who doesn't want empathy? To identify with and understand another's situation, feelings, and motives.  It's a quality we all should strive to foster in ourselves. The world would no doubt be a better place if people simply had more empathy. It's a quality we want to see in everyone… EXCEPT A JUDGE.

If you ever find yourself before a judge, you better hope she's Lady Justice - blind to everyone, weighing cases based on law alone. You better hope she isn't predisposed to your opponents position and set against yours. Do we really want judges who approach situations with predetermined and selective bias? You better hope your case isn't being decided on feelings, but rather on what's right and wrong according to law.

Oh I wish I could believe the best here and join the others who believe Obama is merely saying he wants someone who will hear a case, be moved with empathy and then grant justice to those deserving it.  But this is the same cold-blood ideologue who voted four times to kill children born alive. He hardly has any integrity to tout the virtues of empathy. If there is any selective empathy, we most certainly want it to lean in the direction of concern for innocent, helpless and vulnerable human life, don't we?

Obama is for selective empathy… ideologically-driven empathy. He wants a justice system that feels bad about Guantanamo detainees. And here's where Obama's selective empathy reaches it's apex… the only reason there is a forthcoming heated battle on finding Justice Souters replacement on the Court is because of the issue of abortion. And you can be assured that Obama will first rule out all candidates who have any hint of empathy for unborn human life.

Any finite trace of empathy toward the plight of the unborn and you are off the Abortion President's list - chip-chop. Anyone who has any empathetic regard for the odds stacked against an unwanted, unborn human being is immediately disqualified. Anyone who shows anything but icy cold, case-closed callousness with regard to fetal pain and fetal personhood has no prayer of being an Obama nominee. Obama wants a judge who is blind to the post 1973 mountain of data showing abortion hurts women.  He wants a judge who will give no consideration to the fact that the Roe v Wade ruling was founded on presuppositions about the "fetus" that have since been proved scientifically and medically false. He wants a judge who is empathetic toward evil (like Planned Parenthood) and set against that which is good (i.e. marriage).

This is why I'm among those who plead to a Higher Court. There is One who is just and he'll weigh Obama's appointments for what they are: ideoligically-driven appointments and selections of only those who show a) a callous predisposition toward the unborn and b) empathy for that which is evil. The Bible calls a selectively empathetic magistrate an unjust judge.
