SD Planned Parenthood on tape BLATANTLY breaking SD law!!

Here we are, hopefully on the eve of the eve of the day the South Dakota Dept. of Health yanks the license of South Dakota's Planned Parenthood.

Imagine a drunk who murdered a bunch of kids driving under the influence trying to get a court to issue a restraining order on the police department to keep them from enforcing the laws prohibiting driving under the influence. Well, that is the mickey mouse stuff Planned Parenthood has been desperately trying in the last few weeks- drunk on blood, they were hoping a judge would issue a restraining order on the state to keep it from enforcing the Informed Consent law. The SD Department of Health has the authority to shut this joint down immediately. Every week that they delay another kindergarten class in South Dakota dies.

In June 2008, Planned Parenthood lost their appeal in the US Court of Appeals - an en banc court (all eleven judges) ruled that SD's Human Being Disclosure is constitutional and starting in July 2008, Planned Parenthood had to comply with this law.  For well over a year now they have defied the decision of the US Court of Appeals and thumbed their nose at the state legislature, the Attorney General, the Governor, the Department of Health and the Court. They have withheld information, hid it, lied about it. They are proving why they can not be trusted to protect the interests of women. The Dept. of Health has been far too patient. Planned Parenthood is engaging in criminal conduct by defying the law and the court's orders.

Planned Parenthood's has now demonstrated that their radical ideology and philosophy is in complete conflict with the rights and interests of pregnant South Dakota women. The US Court of Appeal ruled the SD 1166 Informed Consent language it is NOT ideology but rather an accurate statement of biological fact.  The court ruled that Planned Parenthood was able to provide NO EVIDENCE contrary to the statement of fact that abortion terminates the life of a separate living human being.

Below is a link to a recording proving for the umteenth time that Planned Parenthood continues to blatantly violate of state law even as recent as this morning. This 27 minute-long recording was from yesterday afternoon when a pregnant South Dakota woman called the Sioux Falls Planned Parenthood to schedule an abortion. A little bird gave this to me, actually it was an angel.

I'm not sure what is most outrageous about this - 1) the complete incompetency of the staff, 2) the total confusion in that office, multiple times on hold to answer easy questions 3) the shocking absence of any trace of care, compassion or concern, 4) the unconscionable pre-recorded statement of "DR. BALL" who NEVER gives ANY of the required statements, only a dozen legal filing numbers and NOTHING medical. Imagine someone calling themselves a "doctor" not saying anything understandable to you but rather just reciting a dozen legal filing numbers one after the other as if some anxious and scared 18 year old gal will be writing the statute numbers down and finding some law library to review them. 5) Even more unbelievable is that SEVEN times a lady named Colleen, an apparently off-site Planned Parenthood staffer, tells this gal it is NOT REQUIRED that she see the information the "doctor" mentioned in the voice mail recording.

My favorite line is when she is told she can bring a guest but that Planned Parenthood "prefer(s) no children in the clinic." I'm thinking that is the understatement of the freakin' century. Also, "no personal checks." In other words, we aren't going to give you the information the law says we must give you but we ARE going to make sure we get our blood money.  And no, we don't have written instructions that you could review prior to your appointment… "not that I can give you" - but when pressed… "um, we could probably print if off for you."

If this was a nasty restaurant in town the DOH would nail the doors shut tomorrow. How much more should the DOH shut down a place mascarading as a legit health care provider?

I also have a second recording of this gal physically walking into Planned Parenthood in Sioux Falls just this morning and asking again TWICE for the information the doctor was talking about on the recording. Amazingly they gave her a 1995 Dept of Health booklet on “Fetal Growth and Development” – the pages are even yellowed as would be expected as the booklet is 14 years old – how’s that for giving women in our state the latest fetology information available???

She repeatedly states in the recording linked above and two more times in this second recording that she did want the information the doctor was speaking about in the recording. They repeatedly acted like they don’t know what that is, saying even that no one ever asks for it, and she was asked to sign a one page sheet that she got the information even though they gave her something very different. They would not give her a copy of the sheet she signed.

If women who repeatedly ask for this information are not shown it or if they are given other things instead it is hardly likely that those who don’t press for it are even shown anything at all. We now know that even the five page “disclosure form” that Planned Parenthood’s Andrea Adams sent Anthony Nelson at the DOH, which they determined to be illegal, on May 1 is not being used.  This is a criminal offense and I’m among many in our state who expect the highest law enforcement agencies in our state to respond immediately. They've shown they can be patient. However, we elected them to enforce the law.
