Dismal turnout: Stop Stupak rally was no Tea Party

Today was the National Day of Action for the pro-aborts protesting the Stupak Amendment. 12 people protested at Sen. John Thune's office in Rapid City.  And nationally, not even 500 showed up in Washington DC.  WOW. I could have easily drawn that size crowd last minute right here at the church tonight with just a few phone calls.

Contrast that notable national disinterest with the hundreds of thousands who show up at tea parties.

Americans United for Life President and CEO Charmaine Yoest gave this statement about the event:

By confusing abortion with health care, the feminist groups and the abortion lobby actually demean women with their argument that the destruction of unborn children is essential to feminine power

South Dakota's own Tiffany Campbell was there bearing false witness.  But she's getting famous as Cecile Richards gives her a mention in her Huffington Post article on the event today:

And at the noontime rally, we heard the story of a South Dakota woman who needed to terminate a pregnancy to save one of her twins — because both could not survive a medically complicated pregnancy. The woman's friend, who told her story to a hushed crowd, made it clear that, under Stupak, her termination would not have been covered by private insurance, adding hundreds of thousands of dollars of financial insult to emotional injury and the very personal loss of a wanted pregnancy. Stories like these are why we were on the Hill today.

In another Huffington Post article, South Dakota gets a slight mention from an old battle axe in the pro-death, faux-fem militia;

But, today, on this National Day of Action (to stop Stupak), I feel like I'm still 18, in the fall of 1968, gathering nickels, dimes and dollars for a friend to take the bus to Rapid City, South Dakota to get an (illegal) abortion.

I read that and thought… some friend she is - dimes and nickles?!  Why didn't she raise money for her friend to keep the baby?

Some Dude @ 8:09 pm

Yet despite the dismal turnout, your side keeps getting beaten at the polls.

Steve @ 9:01 pm

Dude - Too bad our side didn't have 2 million dollars coming in from a out of state cartel. Take out that factor alone and what do you think the outcome would have been?

Travis @ 11:27 pm

I think that the reason she didn't raise money to help her friend keep the baby is because she, like so many others, has bought into the lie that the only way you can be a crusading feminist is to sacrifice children, and or support sacrificing children.

If you are for letting children live then they consider you a traitor to their cause.

It is sad, really sad.

I agree with Travis…and Some Dude, I have to say that, seeing that you've commented similarly on several other blog posts, you won't listen to reason. And our side ISN'T getting beaten by the polls…the polls are horribly altered by the media to keep people from the truth that abortion isn't seen in quite so positive a way anymore. And anyone with a functioning brain knows how great a grip the liberals have on the media these days. Plus, you're acting immature, like this is still high school, and you're in competition with any team that's not from your school. It's kinda funny, actually…
High School ended a long time ago, buddy. Grow up.
And by the way…for someone who, representing the side of liberalism, is supposed to be open-minded, you don't seem to have an open mind at all…rather, yours is a closed one, and you attack whoever DARES to take a side different than yours…even if our side is the one that holds to the truth. Abortion is murder…and if you refuse to see that, you might as well throw yourself in with the people who supported the Dred Scott ruling that African-Americans weren't human…because Roe v. Wade is this century's equivalent. I'm in HIGH SCHOOL, and I'm able to realize it. So why can't you?

Hiram @ 3:16 pm

And also, I'd like to add this…I find it quite revealing that so many people are willing to support pro-life causes and anti-communistic Tea Parties, while so little are willing to get up and support YOUR side…
Just a thought…
