Pastors for Moral Choices meeting at Augustana College

Augustana College in Sioux Falls has decided to break with the offical ECLA position which is to oppose abortion except in the case of rape and incest. Instead they are hosting a group of pastors who believe its okay to shed innocent blood and exploit women and the black community.  It's the same group of clergy who wore colorful robes and held press conferences in '06 - Pastors for Immoral Choices. Here's their announcement:

Mark your Calendars! On Monday, April 21st, there will be a very special event happening on the campus of Augustana College. Vox: Voices for Choice is teaming up with Pastors for Moral Choices for a roundtable discussion. It's most important to remember there is not just one religious perspective when it comes to the difficult issue of abortion. Come and learn from a panel of highly educated clergy. We hope you can make it to this thought-provoking night. The event starts at 7 pm in Sieverson Lounge in the Augustana College Commons.

Here's the part I love… "a panel of highly-educated clergy."  What the heck is that? Sounds like slam that snuck out of the elitist Obama death camp. Are they again implying that I and those like me are ignorant and uneducated?  Yep, that's us… dum 'nuf to beleef da Bible is tru. How did the Washington Post put it a few years ago… evangelicals are "poor, uneducated and easy to command."

Do they really think pro-life pastors like myself have mail order ordinations on the wall. Hah. There is no room on my office walls to hang anything from the three seminaries I graced because my office has 5000 books on the shelves.  "Highly-educated clergy."  Shut up. I read a book a week and on both sides of the issues. It doesn't take an education to know abortion is evil. Children can look at a sonogram picture and tell you what is in the womb.

I encourage South Dakota pastors to show up for this important meeting.  Put their feet to the fire. And, I encourage Lutherans and Augie alumni to contact Augustana about why they are hosting a pro-death rally and what that will mean to your continued support. Surely we've learned not to repeat the sin of the German Lutheran church of the 1930's and 40's.
