Protesting at a college graduation is stupid. Let the graduating class have their day without making a silly specticle of yourselves in the process. Having the president speak at your graduation is an honor.
When protestors show up, it cheapens the event. The same could be said for hte smelly hippies who wandered into town to protest President Bush when he spoke at Mrs. Dude's graduation.

Please Travis do tell the rest of the story. Like where the bibles in question were printed in various Afghan dialects with the sole purpose of being used by soldiers to attempt to convert the Muslim population, a crime in Afghanistan and forbidden by US Army regulations by the way, and not the personal bibles of soldiers serving there.

I appreciate your consistency (most on the left do not share the same value). I also understand that you have to respect the office of Presidency, but you do not have to respect his policies, and you should let him no what you disagree with, after all we are his boss.

My trouble is with Obama’s hypocrisy; there he was saying that all of God's children deserve Civil Rights? I have to say what in the hell! I also understand the outrage being that it is a catholic college and with his numerous positions that are Anti-Christian and even in some cases Anti-American. Those of us that believe God’s Laws should reign supreme need to speak out every single chance we get.

You are correct that the bibles where meant to be gifts for some of the citizens in Afghanistan. My perspective (according to the testimony of our service members and Chaplin’s) is that they followed all of our laws, and they only offered the gifts on their own personal time. Evangelizing is not against the law. It also promotes our values of a democratic society (Freedom of Press and Religion), maybe you wouldn’t mind if that was overturned in our constitution, but since it hasn’t (yet) you can just shush!

By the way, in the future you should look further than your favorite terrorist news network (Al-Jihad, I mean Al Jazeera) for your information. You should at the very least listen to our people’s (US citizens that are fighting for you) side of the story before you jump all over my case!

Travis, Again you only tell part of the story. The bibles were sent to one soldier by his church back home with the sole purpose of being distributed to locals against Afghani law and US Military regulations. It had nothing to do with Obama nor was the US military burning service member's personal bibles like you wanted us to believe.

The priest was showing what the college stands for and Obama comes over there to distrube peace and he is not arrested and he is the one who should be, for you don't go to another country and talk on how they should run their place or do you go to another person's family and tell them how they should run their family how about China or the Middle East or the Catholic Church coming over to Obama's house against his will and tell the white house or his family how to run and they recive a award and Obama gets arrested for protesting, just because he is president dosent mean he is above the law and can change our freedom for what this country stands for, it is not under Obama we stand it is we the people of the United States, it would of been wise if he thought to himself that he should stay away for the good of the people and their freedom, otherwise arrest me to, for I stand and agree with what those people got arrested for, so if they got arrested should'nt the same thing happen to the whole college, otherwise it should of been Obama arrested for protesting. Leaving aside everything else, I am completely, totally and utterly appalled to see that the officers handcuffed a frail old man to the rear. He presented no threat, there was no risk of escape and he was not refusing to go with them; he was just too slow for them and they didn't like what he was singing.

What a sad day for this United States of America. It is very frightening to think what the next four years could do to this country.

It is not these people are cheapening the graduation day ceremony for the students. It was already cheapened by the fact that Notre Dame's administrators turned their backs on their core Catholic beliefs. Having the President speak at commencement is a great honor, but only if hosting that President doesn't wreck everything the university stands for. Several of those students are attending Notre Dame because they felt it a safe environment to further their education at, while being devout in their Catholic beliefs. Even more so, it goes beyond Catholic to core Christian beliefs in general. I'm sorry if you can't see the deep wrong that the Notre Dame administrators did their student body, but don't blame the people standing up for what they believe in. They were just trying to restore honor for the university.

I cannot believe that this country can says in there Bill of Rights, that people is this country are free and have freedom of speech. If that were true, they would nver have allowed this ungodly act to be performed on a man of God. But what do you expect from a country that has taken God out of schools and off our money. Half the words out of the president's mouth have been lies. He said he would bring troops home, but he isn't. He said he would fix the economy, instead we get bailouts for corporations and NO relief for the working people. It's ridiculous make comments about the sexual assaults of but a few priests. Why not slam those of the extreme evangelical sects of Christianity that marry children off? Or even the "Honor Killings" of those women deemed dishonorable by Muslim families?
