Episcopals apologize for slavery, yet bless the slaughter of innocents

This weekend in Philadelphia, Episcopal leaders met to formally issue an apology for slavery

In a solemn repentance service, Episcopalians plan to acknowledge that slavery "was and is a sin and a fundamental betrayal of the humanity of all persons" in which church members took part. The Episcopal church joins other denominations, including the Southern Baptists, that have apologized for their past support of slavery or racism.

They are to be commended. For a few years now we have been pushing for the US government to apologize to natives. That day is coming. The spiritual benefits of official apologies and public repentance for corporate sin and atrocity are real. Bloodguilt on a land (and on ones own hands) is only removed through repentance.

Too bad though these Episcopal Church leaders remain blind to the fact that they are leading the way among religious groups in "the sin and a fundamental betrayal of the humanity of all persons" in their support of the killing of unborn children. One day there will be a National Memorial to the Unborn in DC and the Episcopal Church will be prominently displayed as not just remaining silent during the holocaust, but as fueling the furnace fires.

And here we have yet another opportunity to point out who has yet to ever renounce their leading role in racism and black genocide - Planned Parenthood.
