Gov. Sarah Palin: A Great CHOICE for America

palin-5.JPG

A member of Feminists for Life. On April 18, 2008, Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin gave birth to her second son, Trig Paxson Van Palin, who has Down syndrome. She returned to the office three days after giving birth. Palin refused to let the results of prenatal genetic testing change her decision to have the baby. "I'm looking at him right now, and I see perfection," Palin said. "Yeah, he has an extra chromosome. I keep thinking, in our world, what is normal and what is perfect?"

Born February 11, 1964 is the current Governor of Alaska, and a member of the Republican Party. She is the first female governor of Alaska, its youngest, and is the first governor born after Alaska achieved statehood. Brought to statewide attention because of her whistleblowing on ethical violations by state Republican Party leaders, she won election in 2006 by first defeating the incumbent governor in the Republican primary, then a former Democratic Alaskan governor in the general election.

She hunts, eats moose burgers, ice fishes, rides snowmobiles, and owns a float plane. Palin holds a lifetime membership with the National Rifle Association. In high school Palin was the head of the school Fellowship of Christian Athletes and would lead the team in prayer before games. In 1984, Palin was first runner-up in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant after winning the Miss Wasilla contest earlier that year, winning a scholarship to help pay her way through college. In the Wasilla pageant, she played the flute and also won Miss Congeniality.

She married her high school sweetheart Todd (a Native Yup'ik Eskimo). He works at BP in an oil field on the North Slope. They have five children, their oldest son, 18, is in the Army, and newborn son Trig and three daughters live at home- Bristol, 17, Willow, 13, and Piper, 7.

A spectacular CHOICE for America!

If it can't be Sam, then I would be so happy with Palin. She is amazing. It makes you wonder how much Don B. has to do with this scenario - has he been exerting his apostolic muscle up there in Wasilla? Oh, the manifold wisdom of God!

Regardless of the decision today, we should try to get her to SD to speak on behalf of IM11. She is a perfect example of how God can work in a difficult pregnancy.

Mmmmm… Moose burgers. Really, it's good stuff.
I like her, and as a republican, am happy with this pick. Suprised?

Steve @ 10:30 am

Yep I'm surprised. Welcome aboard. I'm guessing she'll support IM11 too.

Some Dude @ 11:04 am

She probably would, and we have a differenc of opinion there, but on the whole, I like her. It's hard not to like a fellow outdoor enthusiast.

Dude:

I a also happy with Sarah for more reasons that her staunch PL stand. I was born in AK and so she and Todd are home-town peeps for me. I am a card carrying sporting conservationist from a long family line of sporting conservationists and it makes my heart glad that our interests would be protected at the very top level of American Gov't. I could not be more pleased with this Republican presidential ticket, under the circumstances.

Today, August 29, is Sarah and Todd Palin's 20th anniversary. Wow, what an anniversary gift.
