Heidepriem says Roe v. Wade "hanging by thread"

In a lecture last Tuesday at Macalester College in the Twin Cities, South Dakota state senator Scott Heidepriem (D-Sioux Falls) talked about his involvement in the pro-abortion movement here in South Dakota. The school paper had this report:
He warned the audience not to assume that women in this country will always have the reproductive rights they currently enjoy. These rights are in jeopardy, he said. Roe v. Wade is hanging on by thread…. Heidepriem reasoned that the anti-abortion movement has gained success by putting the abortion argument in apocalyptic terms as a conflict between absolute good and evil. During this time period, Heidepriem's life was threatened and his family was moved to a safe house.
First, who threatened his life? I hope this was reported to the police. That's the stuff we see all the time coming from the pro-death camp. That a pro-life person threatened him isn't likely and I hope that's not what he was implying.
Second, this IS a conflict between good and evil. Heidepriem isn't evil, but what he advocates is very, very evil. I'm not sure how all this is "apocalyptic" unless one interprets Jesus' words from the cross in Luke 23:29 as having reference to abortion in the End Times. That verse talks about a day when people will call good evil and say women who conceived but never bore children are blessed. The verse goes on to say people will regret thinking this way. Easter week is a good week for us to think about that verse again.
Third, Roe v. Wade is hanging on by a thread. They know it. It's only a matter of time and South Dakota will be the safest state in the nation for the unborn.
