Honoring the President (Bush)
As I now learn to honor One whom I find in no way respectable I promise to take a different course than the left has taken with Bush these past eight years. Great article this morning in the Wall Street Journal - The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace. Here's a taste;
The treatment President Bush has received from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have. The president is not to blame for all these problems. He never lost faith in America or her people, and has tried his hardest to continue leading our nation during a very difficult time.
Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty - a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

I find it stunning, absolutely stunning, that 1 year ago unemployment was at less than 5% and the Dow Jones was at its record high and I heard no one praise Bush for that. But when it all came crashing down (at the fault of many, not just one) he is nearly stoned for it.
I can tell you a very personal story about a man who owned a meat market and was a very successful business leader in his home town. He was praised and loved throughout the community. He was on the city council, he was an elder at the church he attended and was friends with everyone.
After a few encounters with bad mgmt and an issue with someone embezzling from him he lost all that he had. He had to take his kids out of the Christian grade school and put them in public school as he could no longer afford the tuition. He was no longer on city council and was booted out as an elder. Some of his "friends" would no longer speak to him. All because someone else stole from him to the point where he lost everything he had. The only thing the member of this community saw though was that he was a failure. They didn't care how or why.
That was my father. I was the one moved to public school and when we went to church, none of the kids in my Sunday School class would even talk to me because I no longer attended the same private school as them. How pathetic. What consumes people today is sad and shameful. MERCY GOD, MERCY!!

Now, why wouldn't the Wall Street Journal suggest something like that earlier in the past 8 years?
I'm a small business owner…and yes, this spring was a little slower than I would like - but this year has been my best year so far. I still haven't seen what all this talk about the bad economy is all about?
I agree anyway, scripture does instruct us to honor those in authority…and more importantly to pray for those in authority.

Steve,
You blame the left in your post, but did you support the president's original Supreme Court choice of Harriet Miers? Did you support Bush when he sought legal status for illegal immigrants?
That was two of the 3 main points brought up in the article and most of the peope I know, right or left, were against those issues.

Thank You for posting this article. It hurts me to hear all the vicious comments most Americans hurl at our President. Have we all forgotten the tragedy of Sept. 11 and the fright that consumed the entire Country? Prez Bush lead us through one of the deadliest attacks on American soil. No one was lashing out on him then. I wonder what the outcome of this election would be if the Al Qaeda chose to attack us in 2007. Thank You Lord for providing us with a President of moral character who tried his best to stand upon Your Truths!
God Bless America
