I'm glad Gloria Steinem did not reproduce

steinemwosvb7xk2.jpgSeventy-four year old Gloria Steinem will speak in Sioux Falls tomorrow night.

The Argus Leader printed an interview with her today and asked for her comments on the recent abortion battles here in South Dakota.

Argus Leader: People behind the ban vow to keep fighting. Do you see the debate over abortion being resolved, or is it going to be a constant fight?

Steinem: It will be resolved eventually because reproductive freedom is a fundamental right like freedom of speech or freedom of religion. The government should not be able to say whether you can or cannot have a child. It's not the business of the government, and I'm proud of South Dakotans for saying it's not the business of the government.

Does anyone else weary of this nonsense talk of fighting for women's "reproductive freedom?" Last I checked, in America, women are free to reproduce or not reproduce. They can have as many or as few babies as they want, whenever they want, and with whomever they want. There are no laws restricting women's reproductive freedom and I know of no one advocating anything that even remotely limits a woman's reproductive freedom.

And, nowhere in America have I ever heard of the government ever telling a woman she can or can't have a child.  Here's the deal Steinem… abortion-bound women already HAVE a child. No one is advocating forcing women to have children they don't want, they already have them. Geesh. The debate is over whether the government should make it illegal to kill the child.

I'm trying to decide which stupid Steinem quote is my favorite.  I'll just list three as there are many to choose from:

1. Marriage is death - A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.  (Her decision to finally get married in her late 60's still brings me a chuckle. Her husband died in 2004.)

2. After freaking out over the doubtful sexual harrassment claims Anita Hill brought against Clarence Thomas, Steinem later defended Bill Clinton's sexual harrassment of Kathleen Willey saying men are entitled to "one free grope." She lost a ton of credibility on that one - someone ought to ask her tomorrow night about her silence this fall when Obama's speechwriter groped the cardboard cutout of her gal Hillary.

3. (Sarah) Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with (Hillary) Clinton. In other words, if you support the sanctity of human life, you are not a real woman.

I'm glad Mrs. Steinem did not reproduce (she has always been free to do so). However the fact that her speaking engagement here tomorrow night is sold out means her killer ideology actually has spawned many clones even here in our city.

If I recall correctly, she DID reproduce. She just had the baby scraped out in pieces and made some comment about how grieving that child would have made as much sense as grieving a pound of hamburger. But I could be misremembering.

Steinem did reproduce. She said that she killed her only child in the unborn stage in the same year I was an unborn child. She is not one of my all time favorite criminal abortion advocates.

Abortionists cannot believe in ANY human rights because their mentality of unlimited killing of human beings destroys the foundation of ALL human rights.

Christina - Joe, I figured as much but didn't know for sure.

As expected, over at Dakota Moonbats I'm getting flak for my post here. Among other things they took issue with me noting Steinem's age. The Argus listed her age too but it's "explicit sexism" when I do it.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

angie and kelsie at DW are on you now for chuckling at the death of Steinem's husband. that would be bad if that is what you did. as always however they are wrong. pretty clear to me your chuckle is at the grand hypocrisy of a woman hating men and marriage for 30 years and then marrying one. it's pretty obvious the subsequent mention of her husbands death as a statement of fact.

Stephanie @ 2:06 pm

Anonymous-READ the post! It clearly states that Steve chuckled at the fact that she got married after preaching against marriage. It just shocks me that anyone with any level of intelligence would listen to you, Angie or Kelsie at DW. Do you not read or educate yourself on what is being said before you speak?

We do love snow…and wind!

Stephanie - ease up there, girl - anonymous was defending Steve.

I also am snickering (really sniggering, but dakota unwomanly would probably make something out of "sniggering") Anywhoooo I am snickering at the lovely weather. No travel advised. Oh for shame. Maybe Ms. Ms. won't even get here. Well that would be a blessing. Less spiritual housekeeping to do in her wake if she doesn't show.

Stephanie @ 4:06 pm

Amy,

I should have clarified which anon I was referring to. I was referring to anon over at DW. Here is what anon said over there:

There is nothing Christian about Pastor (?) Steve. Is there at least one positive, up-lifting entry on that blog? It's always so negative and nasty.
Marcee seemed to disappear after her "women give themselves breast cancer" rant.
Such a pathetic little group over there.

I totally agree with what anon said on this blog. Sorry about the confusion I though my link had pasted through. Ha…I blame it on the weather (j/k).

Steve @ 4:30 pm

I'm guessing she's in town - thus the icy chill. Looks like the show is still on…

Do you really think snow and wind would keep us away? Really, get a new hobby.

Interesting little tidbit about this. I found out today that a class at one of the university's here in Sioux Falls was REQUIRED to listen Steinem's talk. If that were me I would be demanding an apology from the professor along with the university for making it a REQUIREMENT for class!
