Not tonight honey, I'm tired
Alright, I'll be honest. The title was merely a teaser to get you back to yet another post on voter fatigue. Truth be told, we live in a culture that never seems to tire of that which it takes to make a baby - sex. Is it true we tire of what to do when one is actually conceived?
The dictionary says voter fatigue is "apathy in the electorate." Voter fatigue has everything to do with our priorities. We never tire of critically important stuff. When six miners are trapped alive underground we will watch days of non-stop news coverage of the rescue attempt. When your kid has cancer, you never tire of searching for a cure. But we are told voters are tired of hearing about the plight of the unborn and would rather hear about what "really matters" like education, health care, the economy and terrorism/homeland security.
What if all these "more important matters" were directly tied to the issue of how we treat innocent unborn human life? It's no secret that I'm a Christian (as most in South Dakota claim to be). And it's no secret that God places the highest value on human life.
Ezekiel 35:6 says "Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you." Sounds like terrorism. Maybe God will take care of our terrorism problem when deal with the issue of the shedding of innocent blood here at home. Tired of terrorism? Tired of just getting by? Watch the favor of God fall on this state when we get it right on this issue.
