SD VoteYesforLife donors being called and harassed

Bob Mercer at Pure Pierre Politics posted on the obvious a couple weeks ago— that churches WERE deeply involved in funding Vote Yes For Life in 2006 and 2008 — and, as Bob notes…. we have been very open about it in the campaign finance reports. The point of Mercer's post is to pooh pooh this speculation that the Catholic Church is the mystery donor.  I love his sarcasm… "that hotbed of political radicalism, Blue Cloud Abbey, is on the list too!"

Those who saw Mercer's post may have noticed the last sentence;

Watch too in the near future for a report from the University of South Dakota law school on the outside financial influences on both sides in that campaign.

Can't wait for that report, if indeed they do check into both sides. To date, only VoteYes donors are being scrutinized.

I can confirm there is a group right now systematically going through the list of  '06 donors to Vote Yes and calling them asking them who contacted them to give to Vote Yes. When the donor asks the caller to identify themselves they say something about being a group for "open government" and that they are concerned that "people from the outside are coming in to influence our elections." They are calling large out of state donors and churches right now and intimidating them and leaving the distinct false impression that donations to Vote Yes were mishandled, which is an untrue smear clearly and unscrupulously intended to discourage future giving.  These people have no moral core.

To me this smells like it's coming from same people who are gearing up right now to give us a clone/kill law. It's the same flavor of stench. Think about it - intimidating donors in an attempt to dry up the money supply available to fight their dark agenda. It's something straight out of the Pelosi playbook. In case you missed all the hubbub about donor harassment in California last fall for those who gave to Prop 8/marriage, these intimidations are the legitimate reasons donors are tentative to give publicly.

And now a word to you pro-life donors. I'm confident you are aware the direction this nation is going and that we are long past the time of the timidity of good people. I want to encourage and embolden you… the day is already here when you will be led of God regardless of consequence and intimidation to sow large amounts into the things you value most. These are days to step out of the crowd and thrust the weight of your resources and influence behind what you believe. Historically, harassment and persecution only serve to embolden good people and spread the fire of their cause. So give big and boldly. You are the only thing standing in the way of unbridled evil.

It's time UNHealthy Families start naming their big donors

Hundreds of thousands of dollars came into South Dakota from the outside through Planned Parenthood and nobody seems to care who those people are. We know the mystery donor to Vote Yes is right here in state.  94.85% of the two million plus pro-abortion campaign dollars came from outside South Dakota. There is so much for the USD law school to look into there -see below. For contrast, VoteYes had 38% of their $772,000 come from out of state. (combined July and October reports)

In 2006, the Campaign for UNHealthy Families had approximately $600,000 in mystery donations from out of state groups. In 2008, using the combined July/October reports, the following "groups" gave $1,476,701 to UNHealthy Families.

Friends of America Votes (Washington DC) $100,000
SEIU (Washington DC)  $50,000
American Civil Liberties Union (New York) $50,000

NYS NARAL Foundation (New York) $30,000
