Reason #666 why I hate the UN

The headlines today reveal reason number 666 why I am no fan of the UN. Fox News reports today the U.N. Human Rights Council threw itself a party in Geneva on Tuesday that featured the unveiling of a $23 million mural paid for with foreign aid funds.
That's right, they took monies designated to go to starving children in Africa — and spent it on colorful stalactites that cover the ceiling. TWENTY-THREE MILLION! How do these people sleep at night? May these images haunt them.
In a ceremony attended by U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Spanish artist Miquel Barcelo told the press that his 16,000-square-foot ceiling artwork reminded him of "an image of the world dripping toward the sky"
The world dripping toward the sky? What the heck does that mean?
In case you are wondering, the number one reason I'm not a UN fan is because they embrace a population control agenda. Number two reason is because they bought into the global warming hype. The two add up to a group that thinks killing people is the way to save the planet.
Typical of the left, they care more about art than life - life is the handiwork of God for goodness sake! Maybe now that they got their mural the UN Human Rights Council can focus on HUMAN RIGHTS.
(Is it wrong to pray for an earthquake to break these stalactites loose at an opportune moment? I'm kidding. But it is hard to leave the justice part up to God on stuff like this.)

I am a firm opponent of anything the UN does. Yeah - they're pretty lousy…including their drippy world view. I mean, really - was that the best use of $23 million?? How lame…
Some Dude @ 5:44 pm
What a completely useless and out-dated organization.
Bret @ 6:09 pm
Looks like mold growing on the ceiling. I could have done that for half the amount.

Yes, because art and artists are the devil.
Travis @ 10:07 am
Detroit -
I don't think anyone here is saying artists are the devil or that art is evil.
If you got that out of this post, I believe you would be considered very narrow minded.
The bible is very clear that Art is good. Just think about it, we were created in the image of the one true artist. The one who thought of and created everything you can see and everything you cannot.

DL - Read what I said more carefully, I said the left cares more about art than life. Quit putting words in my mouth.
I have a message from last May you may like - called "in the image of a creator" and it's all about the arts and how we who are made in the image of a creator are made to create - I talk about how God started with a blank slate and how artists start with a blank slate and how imagination is part of the image of God in us. Animals can't imagine! THe message is on the arts, dance, music, design, sculpting, architecture, inventing, theatre, poetry, graphic design, etc.
THe message is about a God who loves beauty and how he uses shape and form to serve as gateways to truth. I say art is an anointing and creative expression is a calling as valid as the calling of and clergyperson. Bezalel and Oholiab on Exodus 31 were the first people charged by God to express the revelation of God in visual form.

My issue with this UN mural isn't the fact that it's art, it's that it cost way too much and the fund came from monies designated to feed the hungry.

"left cares more about art than life"
Prove it.
"My issue with this UN mural isn't the fact that it's art, it's that it cost way too much and the fund came from monies designated to feed the hungry."
Couldn't agree more, kinda reminds you of the $3 million spent on the IM11 campaigns. What a waste.
Nikole @ 12:54 pm
I would have to disagree with you DL - I think the waste would be the Billion dollars that are throw into Planned Parenthood's pockets.
Complete Faith @ 2:05 pm
DL…
I think that was the point of the entire post. The UN was willing to spend 23 million dollars on a piece of art work, rather then invest saving human life. in comparison the 3 million spent in South Dakotas fight for life, by both sides combined, is but a drop in the bucket.
Speaking as an artist, I am truly sorry that you believe we Christians view it as the devils work. It is far from that an artists hand is a gift from God. It is what you choose to do with that gift that can will determine weather you fall within God's graces or not.
