South Dakota Libertarians for Life
Thanks to my friend, and fellow SD Lampstand Church pastor, The Rev. Timothy Fountain at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd here in Sioux Falls for good blogging recently on the LIFE issue. You can see a couple of his recent LIFE posts here and here at his blog, Northern Plains Anglican.
I'll paste below his most recent post which is helpful to counter the "let families decide" rhetoric the pro-aborts are using this time around. We know these are the same people who fight parental notification in abortion at every point. We know they depend on government involvement to the tune of $335 million tax payer dollars a year going to Planned Parenthood. In any case, with this disingenious "let families decide" rhetoric they hope to sway good people who know abortion is wrong to vote NO on Initiated Measure 11 so we don't have more government intrusion. Here's Rev. Fountain's thoughts on this…
Please share this link - Libertarians for Life - with your South Dakota Libertarian friends.
Libertarians are highly susceptible to the pro-abortion argument that any law is a gross government intrusion into individual freedom. Please speak up for life:
Roe v. Wade was one of the greatest government intrusions ever. Elitist, activist judges closed the exercise of informed individual thought by shutting down the democratic process. A one-size-fits-all rule was imposed from Washington, DC, with no debate.
There is no greater assault on the dignity of the individual than to "define down" humanity. Abortion requires arbitrary and unscientific definitions of "life," such as Roe v. Wade's absurd "trimesters" standard.
Despite some pro-abortion claims, most elective abortion is not a lofty exercise in moral decision making. It usually involves panic, secrecy and duress. There are many cases in which a woman is coerced by a partner, circle of friends or even family to have an abortion. Her dignity and values are not respected.
If you have Libertarian friends, please discuss this with them. Like all of us, they are prone to go "automatic" and vote based on superficial appeals. They are being told that Measure 11 is "government intrusion in private matters." In fact, it is a grass roots initiative to defend the dignity of human life that Libertarians value.

As a libertarian, I can assure you that libertarianism as a philosphy is completely pro-life. Libertarians respect all human rights, the most basic of which is the right to life. I would therefore strongly urge ALL libertarians in South Dakota to Vote "Yes" on 11.
Everyone must remember that you cannot trust anything the abortionists ever say. Theirs is the most dishonest movement in human history. They have chosen to lie since the 1960's for the sake of advancing their unspeakable agenda of unlimited violence against human beings. Any time an abortionist ad opposing the referendum comes on the television, just change the channel.
Also, I urge everyone who votes "Yes" to remember also to vote for John McCain for President and Joel Dykstra for Senator. Both Barack Obama and Tim Johnson support unlimited killing of unborn children and neither is morally fit to hold any public office. It is critically important for pro-life voters to help elect a pro-life Republican Congress as the best way to protect unborn children from violence.
