Thanks Stephanie for standing with the Tea Party
While Nancy Pelosi led the majority of her party over a cliff on Saturday night, South Dakota US House Rep. Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin (D) decided her re-election was most important. Lefty blogger/attorney Todd Epp is encouraging fellow Democrats to withhold dollars and volunteers to teach Stephanie a lesson. Todd, you should run against her. In any case, while Democrats call for her to leave the Democratic Party, I thought this picture is appropriate in light of who she chose to stand with on this vote. Maybe I'll sign it and send it to Epp.
Pat Powers suggests Stephanie has demonstrated she has no convictions other than to get re-elected. True, except she never wavers on one issue - abortion. She voted against the Stupak amendment because she thinks dismembering and discarding living human beings is "health care."

She also voted to send the bill to the floor for a vote, despite knowing she was going to vote no. Does Sybil know who she was trying to please with her votes on Saturday night?

Reminds me of the time she voted against TARP (when Bush was in office and she was up for re-election) Then when Obama was in office TARP was now good! Oh yeah, In 2008 she was pregnant too. I wonder if she'll get pregnant in 2010?

Personally I am of the opinion that she might not run. There is waaaaaay more comfort and convenience, lots and lots more money and certainly less stress in being a lobbyist. Her new hubby; somebody else's old hubby, er, whatever. ANYWAY - Mr. Sandlin is a former rep turned lobbyist. I think maybe Stephanie could be torn between being a part-time K-Street lobbyist with her new hubby and part-time stay-at-home mom with her new baby(ies) versus more-than-full-time congressional rep from little old flyover SD. She's not that young to be starting a family. Who knows, it may shift her priorities quite a bit and lobbying becomes attractive. Plus she has an in with the hubs. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and how much pressure she gets from dems and Emily's evil list.
