The abortion president picks SD's Tom Daschle
The abortion president picks our own Tom Daschle as his Health and Human Services Secretary. Daschle replaces pro-life advocate Mike Leavitt and can be expected to reverse the recent Bush protections for pro-life doctors and nurses. We can expect Daschle will help implement the abortion president's health care plans including abortion coverage or mandating that hospitals or insurance companies cover abortions.
Life News recalls Daschle's anti-life record;
In March 2003, Daschle voted for a Senate resolution endorsing Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that allowed virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy and ushered in an era of nearly 50 million abortions. While Daschle voted for the national partial-birth abortion ban that the Supreme Court eventually upheld, he cast two votes on pro-abortion measures that would have weakened it to the point of being ineffective. Daschle also supported making taxpayers fund abortions in a variety of circumstances, including funding groups that promote and perform abortions overseas and the performance of abortions at military base hospitals. He also voted for an alternative to the Unborn Victims Bill, the measure that provides protection and justice for women and children like Laci and Conner Peterson who are victims of violence, that would have been far weaker. The measure Daschle backed would deny that the baby had suffered any injuries or death in such an attack. Daschle's record was so poor that the National Right to Life Committee gave him only a 27 percent pro-life voting record from 2003-2004, a 0 percent record in 2001-2002, an 11 percent record in 1999-2000, and a 20 percent record from 1997-1998.
Daschle is part of our dusty past, is this the "change" the abortion president promised?

This is so depressing! Just when things are starting to get really bad they begin to get even worse!
Haggs @ 7:56 pm
You need to realize that the reason Daschle is getting this position is to be better able to reform the health care system, which is one of President-elect Obama's big goals. I really don't think it's about abortion. I think you have a one-track mind.
Steve @ 11:31 pm
Haggs - it's not about abortion. But then again it is about abortion.
This from my email bag…
The one track mind is notable here because the focus of this blog to date is the abortion issue. I read a blogging book a few years ago and it said successful blogs pick a topic and focus on it. That I'm doing. I do have another life. But, I do think the number one thing holding back the fullness of God's blessing on this nation is the issue of the shedding of judicially innocent blood. I think the left has a one track mind as well - unless a person is pro-choice they are vilified by the left. Same could be said of the right I suppose. So, it's all about abortion in America.
Angry Guy @ 12:08 am
You read a book about blogging? Wow. good story.
Detroit Lewis @ 9:43 am
The left has a one-track mind? Really? Your only solution to ending abortion is to make it illegal. That's it. The left has offered hundreds of solutions to ending abortion, because, I know it is hard for you to fathom, no one is pro-abortion. I think you will see a host of programs that have been buried by the Bush administration remerge under Obama/Daschle that will help reduce abortions drastically.
Maybe you need to read a book about critical thinking.
Steve @ 10:03 am
My patience is quite thin for you two. I only support one solution?? How much money have you personally given this year to hurting women in our city???? Have you ever anonymously paid the daycare for December for a dozen single moms just for fun? No. Why? That would cut into your booze budget. What have you done for natives in our state? Kids in particular. Have you built an ophanage? Then shut up with criticizing me for only having one solution.
Critical thinking?? Let me see the the degrees on your wall and the number of books on your shelf that you have read. You have no idea.
I'm tired of you two young men, obviously stuck in post-adolescence, sitting on the curb of this blog throwing beer cans in my yard. If you were as enlightened as you think you are you'd be thoroughly versed in the other worldviews out there. As is, your comments betray the fact that you are only parrots and products of the spirit of this age.
Travis @ 10:33 am
Detroit -
You say no one is pro-abortion. What a ridiculous statement. I bet the people that make their living off of abortions are very pro-abortion.
You say Obama has host of programs that will reduce abortions "drastically". Would the Freedom of Choice Act be included in that litany of programs?
What do you think will happen when the Federal Government passes a law that will completely wipe out any of the states abilities to legislate things like Partial Birth Abortions, Parental Consent for minors, etc…
Sometimes I wonder if you are even capable of forming a thought. Strike the word sometimes and replace it with the word often.
Detroit Lewis @ 10:37 am
First off, my charitable giving is none of your business, that is between me and my God. I don't need to prove anything to you. And feeding the needy doesn't prevent abortion. Not getting pregnant to begin with prevents abortion. How many free condomns have you handed out?
Secondly, calling our president the 'Abortion President' is real mature Steve. It takes a real 'Theologian Scholar' to come up with that. I didn't know they gave degrees in hate mongering in the guise of Christian Love.
To tell you the truth, I'm sick of your hypocrisy BS, but you have every right to do it, just like I have everyright to come over here and tell you your'e wrong.
Obviously someone hit you in the head with a (full) beer can as a child and I'm sorry it wasn't me.
Steve @ 11:22 am
Feeding poor kids takes the financial strain off moms who are abortion bound due to finances.
The "abortion president" is descriptive of the stated priorities of Barack Obama - he will first pass FOCA. Other presidents have been dubbed war presidents as a descriptor. Same thing.
Travis @ 11:34 am
Detroit -
Has any other president in the history of our nation ever receive a 100% rating from Abortion Institutions?
An abortion loving president, he is!
Detroit Lewis @ 11:55 am
Good. It means he understands the constitution unlike our current 'Industrial War Complex President'.
'Feeding poor kids takes the financial strain off moms who are abortion bound due to finances.'
They wouldn't be abortion bound if they would have used birth control or abstained from sex all together. You don't get it, do you?
Complete Faith @ 12:16 pm
DL, I thought abstinence was not worth teaching to our kids. Or is that the case only when it fits your argument?
Travis @ 12:21 pm
Where in the constitution does it specify spreading wealth or eliminating local governmental controls for federal policies?
It is my understanding that the constitution was designed to specifically specify the limits of the Federal Government's control over the State and Local Government entities.
Tell me how the Super Liberal Agenda, (“Your friendly corrupt Federal Government will take care of all your needs/wants”), fits into the constitution.
Oh and by the way he completely misses the boat on the whole right to Life and Liberty part of the constitution. “He knows the constitution better”, what a joke!
Stephanie @ 12:45 pm
Steve,
I've noticed a pattern here. No matter what you do or what you say DL and others are going to comment about it. I don't even pay attention to their comments, but the thing that interest me is that they are so facinated by what is being said on this blog they come back to it repeatedly. Even though they annoy us, I think it is a great deal we have going on here. DL and others are hearing the word of God even if they don't want to. God is planting His seed and we just need to accept it and put up with them. Let God work in them, and we'll just continue to put up with them!
AC @ 1:42 pm
Keep this up pastor and you might end up with the most hits, making you the highest ranked blog in south dakota this month.
God would be proud.
Detroit Lewis @ 2:18 pm
"DL, I thought abstinence was not worth teaching to our kids."
When did I say that? Comprehensive sex ed INCLUDES abstinence ed, it is ONE option of prevented pregnancy, but not the only one.
Stephanie, what's the point of having a blog that preaches to the choir? I would have quit my blog long ago if only like minded people visited it.
Steve should consider himself lucky that people come here and challenge him, I know I enjoy it when people challenge me, and I have deleted or corrected posts on my site when I talk out of my ass.
See, that's the one thing you don't understand about God's creation of mankind, he made us all different for a reason.
Steve @ 2:50 pm
I don't believe in luck.
I did start this blog with the express purpose of "preaching to the choir" - meaning I was encouraged (in case you are wondering, not by VoteYes people) to articulate these issues to other pastors and Christian people in the state providing a resource website for the pro-life movement here. I quickly realized they were not my audience and that changed what I put out there. I'm happy it's become a place here where pro-abortion people can interact with me.
And it is that - three times in the past six weeks Planned Parenthood (not SD) has called me to meet with me personally- "for coffee". First, they were surprised, and said so, that my office put the calls through to me and I picked up the phone. We had a short but nice chat - three times. I declined the face to face. For now, what I have to say I'm putting here on the blog. I even write sometimes with them in mind. Maybe a heart will change.
Complete Faith @ 3:32 pm
DL, my mistake - Some dude said "The idea that simply telling them that sex should be saved for marriage and using guilt and shame to keep them from doing it is obsolete." in another post. Sorry for the mistake.
mr. o w kenobe @ 4:23 pm
dl,
Ha, your site preaching to the choir and if it was you'd quit, haha heehee. Look at the comments that are made and by who (hint: all the same people=choir)? Wouldn't it be easier to buy a cellphone and conference call? That not only goes for your site but dakotawomen and this one as well. The same people commenting over and over. I do see that your buddies have been spending quite a bit of time here lately spicing things up, trying to get panties in a bunch, which has been refreshing but futile. Will anyone here ever change your mind or vice versa? What was that about psychosis?
Detroit Lewis @ 9:33 am
Don't you mean 'Chastity Belts in a Bunch?'
As Todd Snider said on his latest album, "I don't give my opinion to change people's minds, I give it to ease my own."
mr. o w kenobe @ 11:07 am
Who's Chastity? Sounds like a great band. So you agree with me, thanks.
Some Dude @ 11:38 am
To add to what DL said, you'd also love the name of Todd Snider's new album. You should look it up, as it probably wouldn't be appropriate for this site.
Complete Faith -
You quoted me correctly, but I think your interpretation is wrong. There's nothing wrong with telling kids that abstinence is the only 100% effective birth control. But you do kids a disservice when you only tell them about abstinance.
Complete Faith @ 4:28 pm
SD, did you ever go back and read my comments from that post?
