The Zoe Foundation and the spirit of adoption

After some much needed time away in the hot sun, we are welcomed back to South Dakota to a blizzard. But, this warmed me back up… our very good friends Randy and Kelsey Bohlender have launched the Zoe Foundation. Check it out the website and the video…

I believe this to be huge on the heart of God and the Bohlender's personify the spirit of adoption. It's sad to me that we are only known for what we are against and what we are for doesn't make the news. We are for life. But it's not about making the news, its about opening our homes to moms and children. I hope you'll get connected to the Zoe Foundation. Make sure your church is a Lampstand Church. There is no such thing as an unwanted child. There is no need for abortion.
I'll toss in a little teaching just for fun. The writers of the New Testament used the two ancient Greek words for life - bios and zoe. Bios refers to physical biological life (we get our word biology from bios). Zoe/life on the other hand has neither birth nor death and existed before the beginning of time and extends into eternity. The words are very related and each of us has both. I liken bios/life to the dash between the birth date and the death date on a tombstone whereas zoe/life is more like an exclamation point after the person's name.
Abortion doesn't just kill bios, it robs the world of zoe. (FYI - Animal and plant life are bios but curiously lack zoe. Zoe is unique to humanity.) And so the while those in the world who don't know God praise "chance" ascribing bios/life to the handiwork of evolution, zoe is not the product of evolution and therefore it's hardly our "choice" to determine. The Bible says God is the Author of Zoe. Zoe life in a person precedes conception - it begins in the mind of God as a dream for a human life. Zoe life manifests biologically at conception. And biological death ends bios but not Zoe.
