We're winning because they're losers (ideologically speaking)
A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken Friday through Sunday shows McCain leading Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. Today's Zogby poll has McCain up by 4 points. So fast will be Obama's descent in the polls this month people's ears are popping. Wrigley is already reporting chewing gums sales are up already in September.
WHEN LIFE BEGINS IS ABOVE OBAMA'S PAY GRADE… Obama says he was too flip responding to Pastor Rick Warren's question on abortion.
And so, all I meant to communicate was that I don't presume to be able to answer these kinds of theological questions.
Too flip? Barry, the comment came out so painfully slow that for two weeks commentators talked about how extremely calculated you are. This was hardly flip. You are not an honest person or you would, for once, admit when you are wrong. The truth is you were backed against a wall - had you said a baby is a baby at birth, Warren would have hit you with "why then did you oppose the "born-alive protection act"? Had you said what medical science now tells us - that human life begins at conception, you would have betrayed those you answer to at Planned Parenthood.
This is not a question for theologians alone anymore. It's 2008, not 1973, or 325 AD. The Eighth Circuit Court justices in the South Dakota's Informed Consent case just ruled that Planned Parenthood offered NO EVIDENCE contrary to this scientific fact… conception produces a separate, unique living human being.
MEANWHILE… his good Catholic running mate announced Sunday on Meet the Press that he accepts his church's teaching that life begins at conception but the issue is personal for him and he can't impose his religious beliefs on others. I wonder if Biden is going to impose his religious beliefs on himself and vote for pro-life legislation from now on. I won't be holding my breath.
There are calculated political reasons for what he's doing - wavering evangelicals were slipping into the Obama camp over the summer until Palin stepped in and they all flocked back. Biden is merely trying to minimize the loss by now saying he believes life begins at conception. Here's another possibility… he's far enough along in years and has struggled with his health, perhaps he didn't want to burn the bridge with those who will bless his burial - he may need heaven's mercies sooner than Speaker Pelosi. React to that if you want people, but having been at countless (3 digits) death beds, not all, but most people tend to align themselves with God the closer they get to facing him. When I heard Biden's statement, I thought it was political shifting, but I also thought to myself… perhaps this guy cares more about his relationship with God than I thought.
Not so with Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi's recent rewriting and revising of Catholic Doctrine has earned her an invitation into the Archbishop's office. It's high time the Church holds it's people feet to the fire.
Here's the bigger picture. Having exhausted their hope to justify abortion Constitutionally, they are building their case that this is a religious freedom issue. This too is an ideological loser for them.
Here are a few more cartoons and some other interesting stuff in the news…
More humorous to me than any of these cartoons is how, now that now the Sarah-cuda is in the big ocean, Oprah has lost her place as America's most electrifying woman.
This made me smile as well. In an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "This Week," Obama said "my Muslim faith." Those who speak publicly understand that unfortunate verbal slips happen. But, I'm not thinking I'd ever accidentally call myself a Muslim. For the record, I don't think he's a Muslim. But, a committed Christian wouldn't have made this slip. In other words, this comment doesn't tell us he's a Muslim as it reveals he's not much of Christian.

You are very judgmental.

Judgmental. They think it's ok to kill babies. I guess I have formed a judgment on that. Do you have tolerance for my views? Didn't think so. Judgmentalism goes both ways.
