WomenRunSD! uses fears of the Lampstand Project to raise money
WomenRunSD! just sent an email blast nationwide that leads off with this:
Today proponents of the abortion ban on the South Dakota ballot announced a thinly veiled plan to enlist all 1,600 churches across the state in Get Out the Vote efforts to support the ban, Measure 11. The far-right Alliance Defense Fund is prepared to back any church challenged by the IRS for political campaigning, just as ADF provided the support for the 2005 total abortion ban bill and 2006 ballot measure (defeated). We've been meeting their enormous political and rhetorical challenges for some time now in this small, rural state with few resources save for each other and the good help of people like you who are alarmed at the threats against choice and progress for women. The challenges are deep but so are our commitments. Will you help us meet them? WomenRun!SD P.O. Box 2983 Mpls., MN 55402
…1,600 SD churches were asked today to help get out the vote for the abortion ban - will you help mobilize the networks we've built to get out the vote for SD women?
Did anyone else note the return address? I thought this was a South Dakota thing. Of course it isn't. Let's think this through… pastors announce they are available to help women and children in any way for any reason. They throw the weight of their churches behind women in crisis so abortion isn't necessary. And now, those who say they are for women's issues, are struck with fear and use the announcement to help raise funds to fight those who want fewer abortions and fewer women hurt by abortion.
People aren't typically afraid of clergy. Boo! But, all hell is afraid of those like me. And all hell comes against pastors who decide for stand up for what's on the heart of God. I profit in no way from stopping abortion. I speak up at high personal cost to myself and my family. Yet I'm feared by those who do profit from legal abortion. It's revealing.
WomenRunSD is a PAC - Political Action Committee. They state they are committed to "progress for women." But "progress for women" means keeping them locked into 1973 era science/medicine standards and proceedures. Pushing 2008 science on women today - like human life begins at conception - risks for suicide ideation and suicide accompany the abortion procedure - that kind of 2008 science they want to keep away from women… Better for them the days before sonograms. Draconian, don't you think? I liken it to the tobacco companies who started to see advances in science cut into their racket. 1973 science is better for Planned Parenthood, 2008 science is not.
You'll note in the email blast references to how they are targeting the native population in our state. Here's what's happening there… white people in Minneapolis and in Washington DC are pushing their "kill the children" agenda on people who have long believed ALL LIFE IS SACRED. Shame on them. May your dark hearts be exposed.
My good friend Pastor Gabriel Medicine Eagle rebuked (tongue and cheek) an entire crowd in front of the state capital in 2006 referring to how Pine Ridge drove out those who profit from killing native children… "Now if us uncivilized savages can make that declaration (that all life is sacred), then you civilized white people should be able to do the same thing here in the state of South Dakota!” Gabe, it'll happen this year.

Steve -
Thanks for your dedication and commitment to what is on God's Heart. I believe the majority of South Dakotans stand behind you.
The Lampstand project should be the catapulting factor to persuade a large number of people that are opposed to abortion as birth control, yet fear that there is no support for the hurting women. My hat goes off to all of the Clergy inside this state and outside who commit themselves, and their churches to seeking the hurting and lost souls, especially at the high personal cost involved.
Keep up the good work and find comfort in our appreciation and support. I believe God is smiling at the unity of his church on this very divisive issue, and I pray his blessing on you and your family.
